Shrove Tuesday sparks radio station pancake plays

Shrove Tuesday , the last day of Shrovetide, has long been observed as a day of merrymaking before Lent.

Traditionally this has meant Pancake Day, and stations around the country are getting into the spirit.

FM103.2 brekky duo, Aaron and Jarrod, are hosting one of hundreds of Pancake Days.

Its aim is to help raise money for the work of Uniting Care in supporting homeless, abused, aged and disadvantaged people in our community.

At midday in Melbourne radio announcers will line up in the Bourke Street Mall to try to beat the speed record for eating six pancakes, which stands at 47.5 seconds.
