SMPTE Conference and Exhibition opens today

The biennial Society of Motion Pictures and Television Engineers Conference and Exhibition opens today (July 19) in Sydney. Approximately 100 exhibitors will showcase 400 brands at the event, including major industry brands, as well as niche solution suppliers. A full event brochure is available here.

The SMPTE Conference and Exhibition is an event for the motion imaging, sound and broadcast industries in the Australasian region.  It is an industry solution for the time-strapped executive, ensuring those interested have access to up-to-date and relevant information.

This year’s Confernece program will include 60 presentations and workshops in 23 sessions. These presentations aim to provide delegates with a broad spectrum of current techniques and technologies of digital media.

Howard H Lukk, the Vice President of Production Technology from Walt Disney Studios, will deliver the keynote, an open session, on day one.

SMPTE was founded in 1916 to advance theory and development in the motion-imaging field. Today, it provides its members with technology information and education on changes in the media industry. It is also an accredited industry standards-setting body. 

The Conference is at the Sydney Exhibition Centre and is open from 10am to 6pm from Today (Tuesday) to Thursday and 10am to 3pm on Friday. Tickets start from $69 for a single session or $62 for association members. The SMPTE Gala Dinner will be held on Wednesday July 20 at 7pm at the Bayside Terrace, Sydney Convention Centre.
