#SMPTE15 Exhibition highlights

radioinfo walked the floors of the 2015 SMPTE exhibition in Sydney this week on the look out for the latest tech developments of interest the the radio industry.

Here’s some of what we found.

The latest Protools S6 Version was demonstrated at the exhibition.

The desk interface seemed more responsive, and there was some impressive 5.1 sound visualisations available, but otherwise, for radio, it felt pretty similar to earlier versions, which will be good news for Protools lovers – faster, better, but not too much new stuff to learn to operate it.

Over at the RCS/Wheatstone Stand, we got a demonstration of how the Zetta Playout system interfaces to the Wheatstone desk.

Sennheiser has a new smart phone compatible clip-mic, that can be used with professional recording apps such as Tieline and others.

Syncrotech Systems had the Netia system on display.

Rohde and Schwarz was present in force, showing the latest transmission technology.

PAT (Professional Audio & Television) also had a well attended stand.

AV Group was showing a new clock display system

On the converged media side of things, Go Pro Cameras and Camera Drones were the two most intersting products for radio companies. Now that there is so much need for video on radio websites, the combination of strap on Go Pros and video drones could be used to generate low cost video of stunts and pranks done by radio presenters.
