Songs with the best debut airplay this year

As the end of the year approaches, Aircheck has looked back over its tracking and compared the songs that received the most airplay in their debut week for radioinfo.

Shawn Mendes (pictured) took out the top spot with ‘In My Blood’ receiving 435 spins in its first week on air, debuting at No.15 on the AirCheck National Radio Airplay Chart on 29 March 2018.

In second place was Post Malone and Ty Dolla $ign’s ‘Psycho’ which shot straight to No.20 with 382 plays, entering the chart on 1 March.

Five Australian acts made the list, including 5 Seconds of Summer, Dean Lewis, Delta Goodrem and Hilltop Hoods. Amy Shark’s ‘I Said Hi’ triumphed at No.4 with stations adding the hit 287 times for the week of 12-18 April.

AirCheck Client Services Executive, Riarne Gale has told radioinfo: “It was very interesting to compare these results with some of the major hits from this year. 5SOS’ ‘Youngblood’ and Maroon 5 & Cardi B’s ‘Girls Like You’ both took four weeks of airplay before they entered the Airplay Chart but soon grew to be some of the most played tracks of the year.”

Two artists appeared twice in the list; Ariana Grande (No.6 ‘No Tears Left To Cry’ and No.15 ‘God Is A Woman’) and Calvin Harris (No.5 ‘One Kiss’ featuring Dua Lipa and No.12 ‘Promises’ featuring Sam Smith). ‘Promises’ has been the most played song for the past four weeks, will it still be No.1 in tomorrow’s Airplay Chart?

AirCheck, the Leader in Local Media Monitoring in Australia, checks the airplay of songs and commercials on ALL 54 commercial radio stations 24/7 in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Adelaide, Perth, Central Coast, Newcastle and Geelong, plus Triple j and FBi in Sydney and Fresh 92.7 in Adelaide.
