Southern Cross Austereo record-breaking charity drive

As a result of extensive fundraising efforts across its radio and television networks, Southern Cross Austereo is celebrating a record-breaking year for its annual charity drive, Give Me 5 for Kids, which raised $2,581,548 across Australia in 2017.

The amount is 15% up on last year’s total, and is the fourth consecutive year the campaign has raised over 2.2 million.

More than 95% of this year’s donations will go directly to children’s wards in regional hospitals that will help purchase lifesaving equipment.

SCA’s Head of Regional Media and Board Member of Southern Cross Austereo Community Fundraisining Ltd., Rick Lenarcic says, ‘I am extremely proud of the result from not only the hardworking SCA staff that commit their time to making this happen, but also our company partners and the general community in supporting our biggest regional charity drive for sick kids across regional Australia.’

Across 37 regional markets, campaign highlights include telethons, concerts, a sky-high crane stunt, golf days, tin rattles, trivia nights, raffles and BBQ fundraisers, and Shepparton local Paul Archer and his famous Battery Drive which raised an impressive $100,000.

Give Me 5 for Kids has grown from a simple coin drive in Gosford in 1994, to a nationwide charity that has to date raised $22 million.
