The Nova 106.9 breakfast team will welcome some big name sports stars to fill in for regular sports announcer, Mitch Lewis, who has taken leave to get married. Olympic champion and local hero, Sally Pearson, kicked off the Nova Sports All Stars and will continue reading the sports updates at Nova 106.9FM till Thursday. Sally is the 2011 World Champion and 2012 Olympic Champion in the 100 metres hurdles.
Australian Netballer and Qld Firebirds captain Laura Geitz will then take over the desk from next Monday – Thursday. Laura is a local legend who achieved international success as a silver medalist at the 2010 Commonwealth Games and a gold medalist at the 2011 World Netball Championships.
And one of Australia’s living legends, swimming great Susie O’Neill, will take over for Mitch’s last week of leave, from Monday 13 May – Friday 17. With eight Olympic medals to her name, Susie is one of Australia’s all time sporting greats.
Mitch will marry his partner Sarah on Saturday 4 May in her hometown of Geelong, Victoria and they will honeymoon in an undisclosed location.
Mitch will be back on Nova on Monday 20 May from 6am-9am.
