ARN’s Star 102.7 was up just slightly (0.4 to 27.0) for all audiences 10+ in the latest Xtra Insights Survey of Cairns, but with SCA’s Hit 103.5 dropping 1.8 to 17.4, the gap between first and second is now nearly 10 points. 99.5 Triple M was up 1.0 to 14.8 to close the gap in third.
In light of recent SCA movements over the last month we know the networked Hit Cairns breakfast team of Cliffo and Bronte, who dropped 1.2 to 17.0, will not continue in 2024 with Guy ‘Cliffo’ Clifton and local newcomer Kate Jeboult replacing retiring Steve ‘Pricey’ Price on Triple M breakfast in Townsville and Bronte Langbroek moving to join Danny Lakey on the 90.9 Sea FM Breakfast show on the Gold Coast.
SCA Head of Regional Content Blair Woodcock said:
“The entire Cairns team should be proud today of their achievements. It’s a great first survey for Triple M’s Tammy & JB for Breakfast, with an 8.2% cume increase among people aged 10+, after having been together for less than a year. They’re on a great trajectory for another successful year ahead. This also marks an impressive finale for Hit Breakfast’s Cliffo & Bronte as we prepare for an exciting new show in 2024! Congrats to the entire team on their outstanding efforts!”
The long time and local Star duo of Dave and Inkie (pictured) were well on top in breakfast, up 0.7 to 28.8. A 5.1 jump up to 26.3 for Dylan Finch on Star afternoons too.
Star 102.7’s General Manager Jim Ybema, said:
“I am so proud of the team and their commitment to our wonderful community. We feel incredibly grateful to have so many people tune into the fun and frivolity of Dave & Inkie each weekday for Breakfast, Nikki in the Morning Show & Dylan in afternoon show and for this we truly thank our listeners.”
ABC Far North Queensland and triple j both had losses of more than a point (to 9.0 and 8.8 respectively). ARN’s other station 4CA was steady, up 0.2 to 5.4.
