Star 104.5 pushes Central Coast localism

“We’re your new Local,” is the message that the soon-to-be-launched Star 1045 is delivering to the Central Coast.

And they’re putting their money where their mouth is by confirming that many of their team of 27 staff are indeed locals. The list includes:

General Sales Manager: Charmaine Smith

Promotions and Marketing Director: Nicky Ford

Chief Engineer: Matthew Powell

Producer: David Post

Promotions Co-ordinator: Tristan Norris

Client Co-ordinator: Leanne Tuffy

Client Managers: Ben Workman, Matt Chapman, Deborah Szarbo, David Inwood, James Bailey

Receptionist: Mel Read

who have all called the Central Coast “home” for years.

General Manager, Tony Nielsen says: “it’s been a key decision making factor in developing our team, as we know how important being ‘local’ is to Central Coasters”.

Nielsen also reaffirmed to radioinfo that Star 1045 will be a totally LOCAL radio station and won’t be networked to any other of DMG’s Radio stations. “We’re building a station that’s specifically aimed at the Central Coast and we have been and will continue to, involve our listeners so that we will always deliver the radio station that they want.”

The ‘test’ transmission period, as required by the Australian Broadcasting Authority, has now ended, and Star 1045’s programming team are putting the finishing touches to the station’s format, following the overwhelming level of feedback that has been received from Central Coast radio listeners.

Tony Nielsen says he is confident that the programming team will “hit the mark” because of the extensive research that DMG has carried out on the Central Coast, “and combined with our promise of no more than four ads in a row, I’m looking forward to giving listeners a fresh new local sound,” he says.

Star 1045 is expected to announce it’s on-air team next week.
