Macquarie Media has shown the door to their Melbourne based Operations Manager, Stephen Beers.
 
According to TV Blackbox, Beers is departing the station after his role was made redundant this morning.
 
He had been in charge of 3AW and Macquarie Sports Radio in Melbourne since 2015.
 
Speculation in Melbourne is now all around the survival of other programs and with nightime programming after 7pm already coming out of Sydney, there are fears that Denis Walter’s afternoon program will be replaced with Steve Price.
 
Macquarie Media Chairman, Russell Tate has been quick to release a statement and says, “3AW is an iconic and successful Melbourne station focussed on local audiences and content and that will not change.
 
“The 3AW team will remain firmly focussed on serving its audience and advertisers as they have always done,”

 The decision to part ways with Beers comes just 24 hours after Macquarie Media announced sweeping changes to Macquarie Sports Radio programming

 UPDATE : TV Blackbox is also reporting that it understands 6PR Commercial Director, Gordon Hill has also accepted a redundacy package as part of the changes.
