Steve Ahern gave notice of his resignation as the Manager of ABC Radio Sydney earlier this month and will finish up at the national broadcaster on Friday 28 June.
An ABC spokesperson said:
“ABC Radio Sydney manager Steve Ahern has decided to leave the ABC at the end of June after successfully leading the ABC Radio Sydney team for 2 years including during their recent transition to our new offices in Parramatta.
The ABC passes on our sincere thanks to Steve for his dedication to the role and his contribution to the ABC.”
Ahern* is expected to resume international training and consultancy activities and has been commissioned to write a new edition of his text book Making Radio and Podcasts.
Ahern was previously the Director of the ABU Media Academy, Director of Radio at AFTRS, and on the boards of the Community Broadcasting Foundation and one of the world’s first catch-up radio technology companies Rewind Radio. In 2009 he was awarded an Order of Australia Medal for services to broadcasting and education.
