Yesterday RCS and Wheatstone announced a partnership that combines their respective studio technologies and resources to deliver a seamless integration of radio playout and IP audio networking.
A few months ago, radioinfo reported on Sky Radio’s updated studios using Wheatstone technology but the company is also active across many Australian stations.
ARN’s Melbourne KIIS Studios use Wheatstone to run 8 voice processing mic channels x 16 stereo outputs, talent and producer voice processing, comprehensive talkback routing and mixing for on air talent, all controlled via custom TouchScreen interface and traditional talent button control panels. The interface also controls third party equipment including talkback system, legacy audio router and delay systems for seamless integration with the larger facility.
The ARN Melbourne Transmitter Site uses a 48×48 Wheatnet IP Audio Router, which provides all switching for TX Paths, processors and monitoring back to studio, checks audio presence for all STL Paths and provides automated failover and failback, is controlled by main and redundant hardware logic controllers with seamless handover and connects to existing site telemetry system.
ACE Radio Traralgon uses Wheatstone in its four-studio broadcast complex. It employs a 288×288 audio router with 3 x 12 fader consoles and 1 x 8 fader console, PC-Less customisation via console embedded hardware logic controllers and audio ties to Production suites with hardware X-Y controllers for network audio selection.
