Sun FM’s ‘Kool’ Networking for Alice

In Alice Springs, Sun FM has announced a major networking arrangement with sister station, Kool FM.

From Monday (19 April), Sun will network programming to Kool seven nights a week, 6pm-6am, featuring a new Net 30 countdown and a show from an Alice Springs’ restaurant. There will also be an overnight music program, targeting 18-39 year olds, hosted by Sun’s Dee Corcoran.

Weekend programming will include the nationally syndicated programs, Hot Hits and Rick Dees’ Weekly Top 40.

Roger Harris, Alice Springs Commercial Broadcasters’ General Manager, hopes the new networking arrangements will not end with just Sun FM and Kool FM: “We have plans to offer the programming soon to other independent stations around Australia. It’s beamed nationally via the Optus C1 satellite and allows stations to play their own commercials.

“The new joint venture is an exciting move forward in the long time partnership with Kool FM. We believe we have a unique product, especially our ‘live’, interactive program from Bojangles Restaurant and Saloon, where our presenters not only play great music, but chat with various characters from around Central Australia.

“The show is a big hit with tourists, who are a big part of Bo’s demographic. It’s the only program of its kind in Australia and is broadcast across Central Australia and, now, into north Queensland seven nights a week.”
