FM proposed for Ravenshoe and Scottsdale

The ABA is proposing to make commercial FM channel capacity available for the Atherton’s 4AMM in Ravenshoe, Queensland, and Scottsdale’s 7RGS in Weldborough, Tasmania.

ABA Chairman, Professor David Flint, says: “the proposals follow requests from the respective licensees, Tablelands Broadcasting Pty Ltd and North East Tasmania Broadcasters Pty Ltd, to overcome reception problems in their areas.

“The ABA has planned the extra FM capacity under the Commercial Radio Blackspots Program. This provides $5m over three years to deliver new or improved commercial services to regional and remote communities.”

Both proposals are contained in draft variations to the Atherton and Scottsdale radio licence area plans, which are open to public comment until Friday 23 April.

The draft variations, with explanatory papers, are available from the ABA’s website (www.aba.gov.au) or by calling 1 800 810 241.
