Sunday was all about Jets and Gorillas on 2ST

What footy fever sounds like in The Shoalhaven.

In what has become an annual tradition for Radio 2ST, Nowra, the station’s local call team of Adam Straney, Ric Bardon, Chris Regan and Shaun Timmins covered the live call of the Group 7 Rugby League Grand Final from Collegians Sporting Complex in Wollongong on Sunday afternoon.

The crowd of 4,076 at the stadium were on the edge of their seats for the game between the Warilla-Lake South Gorillas and Nowra-Bomaderry Jets, with 2ST listeners able to hear every second of the action live on air.

2ST Program Director, Michael Moffett, said “it’s great that a station with the history of 2ST can continue a great tradition on Grand Final day, and it really highlights how local radio can impact by covering massive local events like this one”.

In the end the Jets beat the Gorillas and secured their first Grand Final win, taking the 2014 Premiership with a 30-20 full time score.
