Survey 7: Penultimate book before a new era this morning

Nielsen Survey 7, due for release this morning, a day earlier than usual so as not to interfere with the Melbourne Cup, will be kind of interesting. And kind of not.

Tomorrow’s ratings achieved by Fox FM’s Matt and Jo and NOVA 100’s Hughesy & Kate will be largely academic because they won’t be there next year. Same goes for 2UE’s Jason Morrison and probably Paul Murray, 4BC’s Greg Cary and Gary Hardgrave as well as many others around the nation.

We originally included 2Day FM’s Kyle and Jackie O in the group above, but have had to revise our thinking having heard the news that they could be joining MIX 106.5 FM next year.

Good performances from others returning including Nova 969’s Fitzy & Wippa, WSFM’s Jonesy & Amanda and GOLD’s Brig & Lehmo against the departing heritage programs would auger well for 2014 when they face untested opposition.

Of course, the other new era that will be ushered in form Survey One of 2014 is a whole new way of conducting surveys and measuring audiences as we say farewell to Nielsen and hello to GfK.

Don’t miss out on observing history in the making as we witness the last of months of the old era as radioinfo brings you the results of Nielsen Survey 7, soon after 9 am this morning.
