The final survey of 2023, GfK Radio 360 Survey 8, will be poignant for some, particularly Jase & Lauren from Melbourne’s KIIS 101.1. The station increased its audience by 63,000 from last survey and Jase and Lauren jumped from sixth to third in cumulative breakfast listeners behind only Fifi, Fev and Nick at Fox FM and KIIS 1065’s Kyle and Jackie O, who will replace them next year.
We were predicting some rise in audience for KIIS and its breakfast teams in this survey, as news of Kyle and Jackie taking on Melbourne was announced mid November and listeners perhaps got behind who they were losing or checked out the incumbent. The 92K additional cumulative listeners to KIIS Sydney was well beyond expectations.
Elsewhere Fifi, Fev and Nick remained steady, as did The Fox, Nova 96.9 Sydney had a great survey, up 61,000 listeners and more than 30K to Fitzy and Wippa with Kate Richie on breakfast. Melbourne’s Gold 104.3 will be bewildered at the ups and downs they are experiencing, dropping from largest cumulative audience to fifth over the last two surveys. The Christian O’Connell Breakfast Show, whose contract has also been renewed for five years, didn’t see the same uptake of listeners. Their 40K cumulative drop was second only to James Valentine on ABC Sydney Breakfast, who will be replaced by Craig Reucassel next year.
105.1 Triple M Melbourne’s listeners dropped 65K, although breakfast in Marty Sheargold‘s absence was steady. A surprise packet was ABC News Radio Sydney, up 63K in cumulative audience and 30,000 in breakfast.
