The Sydney Opera House Turns 30 – Free Audio

Those of you using our On This Day Show Prep will know that 30 years ago, Monday, October 20th, (1973) Queen Elizabeth the Second opened the Sydney Opera House in a glittering, gala occasion. In this audio clip we hear an introduction by the “Ghost of Benelong”, the announcer from 3DB, the then NSW Premier Sir Robert Askin and Her Majesty – who could’ve done with a wind sock – on her microphone.

This clip has been provided by ScreenSound Australia, the National Film and Sound Archive with the kind permission from MIX 101.1, Melbourne (formerly 3DB). It may only be broadcast by licensed radio stations between now and October 30, 2003.
