Sydney’s 2GLF-FM rebuilds with LAWO

Community broadcasting station 2GLF-FM, in Sydney have recently moved from their old studios to new purpose-built facilities at Bigge Street in Liverpool. After assessing various broadcast technologies, the technical committee of 2GLF decided on LAWO’s crystal technology configured by local firm Professional Audio Technology Pty Ltd (PAT)

PAT’s Technology Specialist – Alan Liddelow explains the technology approach that was taken “As with most small broadcasters, there is often some compromise between the technical requirements versus the budgetary restrictions. However, we believe that 2GLF-FM have found the perfect balance with their new system. We configured, commissioned and delivered 2 crystal 12 fader consoles with crystal studio frames and used a stand alone crystal frame in the MCR as main router.”

2GLF’s new studio facility houses two brand new purpose-built on-air studios and an MCR, in addition to a reception area and offices, with a further production studio planned to be built for later this year.

2GLF’s Tim Miller, (pictured) who has been closely involved with the install of the new technology was happy with the stations decision to go with LAWO, “We found that it was a big change to go from a fully analog facility to a digital one. Overall we are very happy with the LAWO equipment and the service we have received from Professional Audio Technology.”

MD of Professional Audio Technology – Patrick Salloch was impressed with the new studios at 2GLF-FM saying, “I am always delighted when I see small broadcasters excel at what they are doing. The new studios at 2GLF-FM are very impressive for a community station and I am delighted that LAWO and PAT have taken part in this success story. I congratulate 2GLF-FM on their outstanding new facility.”
