A year ago two of our rockstar front men of the 1990s, Bernard Fanning (of Powderfinger) and Paul Dempsey (from Something for Kate) came together to form a band they called Fanning Dempsey National Park and release an album called The Deluge. The pair are currently touring Australia.
107.3 Triple M Hobart’s Kaz & Tubes (Karen McMullen and Andy ‘Tubes’ Taylor) noticed that Tasmania initially wasn’t on the tour schedule, and that there was a little town nearby simply called National Park begging for a rebrand. And so they did, which Bernard and Paul picked up on:
Bernard Fanning said: “We promise you that will come to Tasmania. We have followed with absolute joy and glee your public acts of vandalism and risking incarceration on our behalf – we will get there, I promise.”
And they did too, plus schedule a concert date in Hobart.
Bernard and Paul flew into Tassie and proudly joined Kaz & Tubes to celebrate the permanent marker* for the brand new Fanning Dempsey National Park.
Triple M Breakfast with Kaz & Tubes is on 107.3 Triple M from 6am-9am weekdays.
* ‘Fanning Dempsey National Park’ may, or may not, be legally binding and the sign may, or may not, be very removable.
