Text messages help UK Radio

In the UK, Radio stations are using the power of text messaging to not only increase listener interaction but also sales and sponsorship revenues. London’s Capital Radio stations, Power FM and Invicta FM, which target 15-35 year olds are using a system that enables stations to receive SMS messages directly to the studio via a PC browser. Within the first weekend of launching the service, Invicta Fm received over 3000 messages. Text messaging is booming throughout the U.K. and in January over 900 million messages were sent by the 67 per cent of the mobile phone population.
