The KIIS Network will commemorate the 20th anniversary of the 2002 Bali bombings today with a tribute to those whose lives were changed forever by the attacks.
In addition to the tribute that will run throughout the day across the KIIS Network, the KIIS Breakfast shows will feature interviews with survivors including Nicole McLean, Phil Britten, Peter Hughes and Julian Burton, as well as others impacted by the bombings.
On October 12, 2002, the Bali bombings killed 202 people – 88 of whom were Australian – and wounded hundreds more. The attacks represent the single largest loss of Australian life due to an act of terrorism.
It was also a day of heroism and selfless acts of courage.
Many survivors of the blast, though they themselves were injured, immediately re-entered the shattered club to search for other survivors.
Nearly 200 Australians later received formal recognition for their bravery and the assistance they provided both immediately and in the following months.
The commemoration of the 2002 Bali bombings can be heard on KIIS stations throughout Wednesday, October 12 or via the free iHeart app here.
