It would never happen with the NRL or AFL, but it happened this morning with David & Tanya on their breakfast show on KO FM in Newcastle just 48 hours before the Hyundai A-League Grand Final.

The two coaches, Gary Van Egmond of the Newcastle Jets and Lawrie McKinna of the Central Coast Mariners agreed to be interviewed together. Despite their rivalry the two men traded light banter and accepted an interesting challenge.

Without preparation or forewarning, they each did a phantom call of what they thought would be the last 30 seconds of the game with the score at nil all.

Judging by the result, with a little practice, both could look to a career in broadcasting – heavy Scotts accent notwithstanding.
