Thirsty work for charity

Some radio industry people have a dry month coming up. Adam Spencer, Dom Evans, Tony McManus, Ali Donellan and Zan Rowe are all going off the grog from today. Spencer, host of ABC 702 Sydney’s breakfast show, Evans, Today Network Image Producer, and 6PR afternoon presenter McManus have all signed up for Dry July to raise money for cancer research.  Also detoxing is triple j party animal Zan Rowe and Star FM Shepparton’s breakfast funster Alison Donellan. If you are also participating in this worthwhile cause, let us know and we will mention you here on radioinfo.

DRY HARD 4

As in the past three years, Adam Spencer is doing Dry July again, and he is enlisting his ABC702 audience to join him in the Breakfast Boozebusters team. Boozebusters teamsters will be raising money for the Prince of Wales, Liverpool and Nepean Hospitals in the process. So far the Boozebusters team has raised nearly $30,000 for the hospitals’ cancer treatment wards.

Spencer has told radioinfo:
Dry July which began as a lark on my 702 breakfast show in 2008 has grown into a massive, lumbering, fundraising sober beast.  This is my 4th year hence the slogan “Dry Hard 4 – Dry Harder!”?

We have a breakfast booze busters team of 300 or so listeners all going sober for 31 days to raise $ so we can purchase a string of things off wish lists prepared by each of POW Randwick, Liverpool and Nepean hospitals.  Cheers (so to speak)…  Adam

WILL AUSTEREO DRY HARDER?

Meanwhile, in Melbourne, Fox FM based Evans is detoxing for the first time this July. He has told radioinfo:

I have been challenged to do DRY JULY and have proudly accepted. The rules: I cannot consume any alcoholic beverage between 12:01am JULY 1 – 12:00am AUGUST 1.

The cause: Assisting adults living with cancer across Australia. No donation is too small, even a cheeky $5 would be great! Anything over $2 is tax deductable. So please get behind it, because it’s a great cause.

Evans will donate an extra 20% on top of the total at the end of the month.
