This morning on Nova 96.9’s Fitzy & Wippa with Kate Ritchie, during a segment asking for clever ways of getting a job a listener Kristy called up and told the a wonderfully creative story of how a fake engagement and real ring earned her a job, even after being initially turned down.

Fitzy: Yeah, let’s talk about work guys and getting that job. What are you doing outside the square to get that job? This guy has printed off his resume Wip but he’s only printed half of the page of his resume, and down the bottom it says, hire me to unlock my full potential
Wippa: Oh so you don’t see anything? He doesn’t show anything about himself?
Fitzy: Well can I tell you…it was a success. He got the job because it was quirky! They wanted to know more & got him back in for an interview. So it’s these clever little things.
Kristy from Ermington what was the clever way you got the job?
Kristy: I’d applied for an event management company and received a letter saying, No, I didn’t get the job. So I made a wedding invitation saying you’re invited to the engagement party of my name and their company, and in an engagement ring box, I got a ring and engraved my number on it and had a little note saying the girl should get a ring. They called me up and they said, you don’t have enough experience, but we love it, and you’re hired.
Fitzy: Ahhh that is magnificent Kristy!
Wippa: How good is that!
Fitzy: How much was the ring Kristy? Was it just an El Cheapo?
Kristy: Yep just a cheap ring, and I got it engraved with my number, of my phone number and my mobile number around it, and put the little note saying the girl should get a ring…and they called my mobile and said, you’ve got the job.
Wippa: I love that.
Fitzy: Well Done!
