Today FM will finally launch in NZ next month

MediaWorks’ new talk station Today FM will finally launch on Monday 21st March, months behind schedule.

Contractual problems surrounding breakfast host Tova O’Brien delayed the station launch after she was made to wait until her three-month restraint of trade clause expired following her resignation as TV3’s political editor in November to join Mediaworks in the new year.

O’Brien challenged the clause but lost her case at New Zealand’s Employment Relations Authority, forcing Mediaworks to delay Today FM’s start date.

The latest addition to the team is Dominic Bowden who is joining next month with his show each Saturday called WellBeings, a radio version of his successful podcast.

The full Today FM weekday lineup is as follows:

  • 5am-6:30am First Light with Rachel Smalley
  • 6:30-9am Tova w/Tova O’Brien, Mark Dye and Carly Flynn
  • 9am-midday Duncan Garner Today
  • 12pm-4pm Leah & Mark w/Leah Panapa and Mark Richardson
  • 4pm-7pm Lloyd Burr Drive w/Wilhelmina Shrimpton
  • 8pm-midnight Polly w/Polly Gillespie
