TooLa the winner of triple j’s Unearthed High Indigenous initiative

triple j’s soon to be breakfast team of Abby & Tyrone have announced that TooLa is the 2026 winner of Unearthed High’s Indigenous Initiative.

TooLa is the moniker of 16 year old Biripi student Tyler Saunders who’s based in Taree and has been busking since he was three. His winning entry Float (below) is entirely self-produced, showing off his self taught rap skills and confidence.

As the winner, TooLa’s track will be heard across Unearthed and triple j. His next track gets to be mixed by Grammy-winning engineer Eric J Dubowsky (Flume, Tame Impala, Dua Lipa), and he’ll spend time with Nooky (3% member and host of triple j’s Blak Out) to help elevate his career to the next level.
