Trioli wins Walkley Award

774 ABC Melbourne’s Drive presenter, Virginia Trioli has won a Walkley Award for Radio Current Affairs reporting.

Trioli was presented with the award for her
interview “Minister Overboard.”

The interview led to former Defence Minister, Peter Reith and Prime
Minister, John Howard being accused of lying to the Australian people
during the federal election of 2001, and led to the establishment of the Senate inquiry.

Local Radio Manager, Ian Mannix said it was wonderful that Trioli had received the award – the highest accolade for journalists in Australia.

“It is recognition for Virginia’s outstanding contribution to news and
current affairs radio coverage on radio.

“This interview is just one example of the outstanding work that our
programs put together on a day-to-day basis,” he said.
