As a person who has a soft spot for hardcore music (hmm….perhaps it’s a hard spot?) it is great to see triple j explore the genre with artist, storyteller and performer Jack Bergin (pictured) the inaugural host of CORE.
Commencing tonight from the twilight time of 9pm and that time Tuesdays thereafter, CORE is a hub for metal, hardcore, punk, emo, shoegaze, and everything in between, showcasing the best new releases, artist interviews, touring news and more. Shoegaze is perhaps the best music genre name ever.
Jack said:
“I’m so excited to join the triple j team and kick off 2025 with a bang. I discovered triple j via the specialist heavy programs in high school and had the station as the soundtrack to my day-to-day life over my formative years, so it’s a truly special feeling to be where I am right now. I cannot wait to continue flying the flag for Australian music and share my passion and love for our heavy music scene down under.”
Having fronted the four-piece Void of Vision, Jack has had a massive 12 months prior to joining triple j, with a support slot on Parkway Drive’s mega anniversary tour, an international tour with Stray From The Path, and the release of the band’s fourth studio album What I’ll Leave Behind.
You can listen to CORE on triple j Tuesdays from 9pm with Jack Bergin. Listen on your local station, stream online or via the triple j app.
