Triple j’s Bars of Steel live and free debut

Triple j’s Bars of Steel is making its live debut with a free, one-day event and workshop on Saturday, 25 May, in Parramatta, Western Sydney.

Taking over the car park at 119 Macquarie Street Bars of Steel will feature hip hop, rap and R&B artists hailing from in and around the local area including Youngn Lipz, A.GIRL, Vv Pete, emerging sensation Becca Hatch, reggae star Gold Fang, last year’s triple j Unearthed High winner LEE. and DJ Boosie. The event will be hosted by triple j’s Latifa Tee and will be capped off with a First Nations triple j Unearthed Competition winner with triple j flying the winner in from wherever they live in Australia. There will also be a triple j Unearthed music industry workshop called Tapped In, which will run from midday until 4pm at PHIVE in Parramatta. Tapped In will give the next crop of artists a skills session by some of the best in the industry. Covering topics like building a team, growing a fanbase and getting your music heard, there’ll also be a chance for artists to jump in the studio and record in the traveling Bars of Steel booth. triple j’s Bars of Steel Live is a drug and alcohol-free event open to anyone aged 16 years or older. Register here to go in the ballot for free tickets. Bars of Steel kicks off at 5pm on May 25 with playing times and special guests to be announced soon.
