Triple j’s Bars of Steel is making its live debut with a free, one-day event and workshop on Saturday, 25 May, in Parramatta, Western Sydney.

Taking over the car park at 119 Macquarie Street Bars of Steel will feature hip hop, rap and R&B artists hailing from in and around the local area including Youngn Lipz, A.GIRL, Vv Pete, emerging sensation Becca Hatch, reggae star Gold Fang, last year’s triple j Unearthed High winner LEE. and DJ Boosie. The event will be hosted by triple j’s Latifa Tee and will be capped off with a First Nations triple j Unearthed Competition winner with triple j flying the winner in from wherever they live in Australia. There will also be a triple j Unearthed music industry workshop called Tapped In, which will run from midday until 4pm at PHIVE in Parramatta. Tapped In will give the next crop of artists a skills session by some of the best in the industry. Covering topics like building a team, growing a fanbase and getting your music heard, there’ll also be a chance for artists to jump in the studio and record in the traveling Bars of Steel booth.
