Triple M Melbourne organises a minute of noise for Bon Scott

Triple M, the “spiritual home of ACDC,” is encouraging Melbourne to commemorate the 30 year anniversary of Bon Scott’s death with a minute of noise today at midday.

A number of Melbourne churches have agreed to ring their bells at midday and the Hot Breakfast team is giving listeners the chance to ring the bell at St Luke’s Anglican Church in South Melbourne, next to its studios, to make some noise for Bon.

As opposed to the traditional minute of silence, Triple M and the Hot Breakfast thought it fitting to celebrate the legendary ACDC rocker’s death with sound.

Churches expected to join in the action tomorrow include St Michael’s Uniting Church, Albert Park Anglican Church, St Matthews Church Glenroy and St Albans Church West Coburg.

Showing the lengths that some churches are willing to go to commemorate the Aussie music icon, St Alban’s does not have an operating bell, but has agreed to play an ACDC record at noon and make some noise in memory of Bon.

Triple M shares an anniversary with Bon Scott in 2010, the station is in its 30th year of existence.

As well as the bell ringing comemoration, Triple M has also featured rare love letters written from Bon to his wife Renee on its website in memory of the legendary rocker.
