Turning the clock back 30 years on Clive Robertson: Video

The year was 1979. A time when the ABC was rating pretty much as well as it is today, thanks in large part, to a 33 year old Clive Robertson who was number two in breakfast behind 2UE’s unassailable Garry O’Callaghan.

At the time, Robbo was described by O’Callaghan as “The youngest eccentric I’ve ever met.” Today, he’s no longer one of those things.

Bob Rogers said of him, “I think he’s brilliant, bordering on genius.” Ian MacRae, the biggest star at the then mighty 2SM, was simply grateful that Robertson started half an earlier than he did, saying, “I get to listen to Clive driving in to work each day so that I have plenty of time to gather material for my show.”
