Ugly Phil lands a sweet gig on Triple M

It was just on a month ago that Phil O’Neil told radioinfo that he had no specific plans. Yeah right. Since his return from England and pulling a number of floating shifts on Triple M, surprise, surprise he’s scored a regular shift on the Sydney station.

The show will air from next Tuesday, from 6pm-10pm Tuesdays to Fridays.

Triple M’s Content Director, Scott Muller says the addition of Phil to the station’s lineup is a great way to start the evening following Wil and Lehmo at Drive.

“After we moved Paul Murray to breakfast late last year, we’ve been working on our nightly line-up and we’re thrilled Phil has agreed to come on board.

“The Triple M lineup is stronger than ever with The Shebang at Breakfast, great music across the workday, The Peter Berner Experiment, Wil and Lehmo at Drive and now Phil and Spoonman at Nights,” Muller said.

Expect the usual Phil style outrageous material, prank calls and a real rock show with acoustic performances, garage sessions, gig guides and more.

Phil has spent the past four years working in the UK industry where he won two highly prestigious gold Sony Awards and a British Radio Award for Broadcaster Of The Year.

Phil says, “Like a pilgrim, I’m returning to worship at the temple of rock. Just like David Carradine in Kung Fu, but with less of the walking.”
