US Podcast advertising rates steady in 23-24 financial year

American podcast hosting company Libsyn releases its CPM podcast advertising rates (in US Dollars) every month.

As Australian advertisers look forward into the next financial year, it is a useful point of comparison.

In June 2024, the average CPM (cost per thousand) rate was $21.90 for a 60-second ad spot. The June 2024 CPM rate was slightly below the prior year June 2023 CPM rate of $21.96.

The three highest CPM categories based on delivered advertising were:

  • Technology: $29
  • Business: $24
  • Education: $24

Three categories where CPM rates are lower than the average, but audiences are high, include: Fiction, Kids & Family, and TV & Film, which averaged around the high teens to low 20 US dollars.
