Yvonne Braid started at Radio 2WG as a 17-year-old, and worked for the station for many years, ending up as station manager.
Yvonne, who passed away peacefully last weekend at Uniting Tumut residential aged care, was aged in her early 80s.
As well as her radio work, she served as a Councillor and Deputy Lord Mayor and was on many boards and committees for local organisations. Some of the organisations she worked with included: Rotary, the Country Hope Trust, Riverina Regional Library Advisory Committee, Wagga Jazz Inc, NSW Public Libraries Association and Ronald McDonald House.
She is remembered as a hard working broadcast professional who also contributed so much to her community.
Yvonne was awarded an Order of Australia in 2017
A tribute in the Wagga Daily Advertiser described Yvonne as “an amazing lady” who was “very strong [at] pushing issues she was passionate about.”
