Vale Amanda Cavill

Amanda Cavill, a former senior radio correspondent for SBS, has died after a long and difficult battle with cancer.

Amanda was the SBS Radio correspondent in the Canberra Bureau for nearly 20 years covering seven elections and six Prime Ministers. She began her career in Victoria where she was a young radio reporter before making the move to Canberra in the 1990s.

SBS says Amanda was a warm and generous person, cheeky and had a great sense of humour. Younger journos looked up to her for guidance, relying on her unflappable, straight-shooting political reporting.

Amanda is survived by her husband Frank.

A Graveside Ceremony will be held at Woden Cemetery, Yamba Drive, Woden on Tuesday 19th September 2017 commencing at 12 noon followed by a Memorial Service at the Commonwealth Club,
25 Forster Crescent, Yarralumla at 1.30pm AEST
