Community station J-Air 88.9 Victoria has lost one of its stalwart broadcasters.
Sam Green, who was with the station from it’s beginning, has passed away.
An in memorium message on the station’s website pays tribute to Sam’s commitment to the station:
He was, at heart, a musician and a storyteller. Whether on air or on stage, Sam had a gift for bringing people together. He loved nothing more than playing alongside fellow musicians in his band. That same warmth carried into his broadcasting — every program felt like sitting across the table from an old friend.
Sam didn’t just play music; he shared the stories behind it. He didn’t just host a show; he created a sense of belonging.
For many of us, Sam wasn’t just a presenter, he was part of the fabric of J-AIR. A collaborator, and a steady presence who helped define what community radio truly means.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to Sam’s family, friends, bandmates, and everyone whose life he touched through his music and broadcasting.
RIP Sam.
