UPDATED WITH FUNERAL DETAILS – Vale Pete Diskon

Much loved radio personality Pete Diskon has died from heart ailments after a brief period in palliative care. He turned 75 earlier this month. His broadcast career saw him employed across Australia with the longest stints spent living, volunteering and working around NSW’s South Coast.

Pete trained in Melbourne at 3XL fifty years ago before finding his first job with 2XL in the NSW Snowy Mountains. He would go on to work at 2WG, 2ST, 2DU, 2MG, 2ST, 2EC, 2NZ, 2CA Canberra, as Network Program Manager for 4VL, Triple C Charleville and 4DB Dalby in Queensland, at 7BU and 7AD in Tasmania, community station CHY-FM in Coffs Harbour, before wrapping up in commercial radio with eight years hosting 2EC‘s morning show in Bega.

Then Pete further volunteered his time at 2EAR and with Braidwood’s 88.9FM where he was presenter, mentor, trainer, board member and where the main picture was taken. In 2022 Pete stepped into politics when he was elected as a Eurobodalla Shire Councillor.

Funeral is to be held on Wednesday March 4 at Broulee Gardens Cemetery and Crematorium at midday.
