Veteren Brisbane jock gone

After reporting a RadioInfo source yesterday maintaining there was no panic among staff at 4BC ahead of a formal process of review today, the shedding of jobs has begun.

It’s understood veteran announcer Ian Skippen has been sacked along with co-host Loretta Ryan, following the merger deal between Fairfax and Macquarie. It’s believed his breakfast slot will be networked from 2GB.

There are also reports morning talkshow host Patrick Condren has been let go along with evenings presenter Walter Williams and the production staff from all three dayparts.

The Courier Mail yesterday reported the atmosphere at 4BC was “like a cemetery” with up to 20 staff members facing uncertain futures.

Fairfax now owns 54.5 per cent of the new business’s shares, with Macquarie holding the remaining 45.5 per cent.
