Vic Davies’ memorial service today finished with characteristic humour. Mourners left the Macquarie Park chapel to the sounds of The Wanker Song, one of the many parodies that made him famous.
Family and friends, plus many radio colleagues gathered to send off Vic on the hot November afternoon, then adjourned to The Basement to remember good times with the Harley riding larrikin who won hearts with his sense of humour and absurdity.
Mourners heard from close friend Rina Ferris and his brother Frank, who remembered having to stop driving because he was laughing so much at Vic’s jokes on the radio. His grown children Jamie, Rick and Kerry also paid tribute to their father, with his youngest five year old daughter Harmony ending the tributes with her own touching words.
Vic’s family thanked radio industry colleagues for their messages of support and asked that any tributes be donated to the Central Coast Health Service, who helped Vic so much in his last months as he suffered from cancer.
