Wide World of Sports goes national across Nine Radio

November 1 will usher in a new era in sport when the Wide World of Sports radio program airs nationally across 2GB, 3AW, 4BC and 6PR.

The local program will replace Sports Day on 3AW in Melbourne and 6PR in Perth, while continuing to air on 2GB in Sydney and 4BC in Brisbane, and will be broadcast from 6pm-7pm in each market from Monday to Thursday during the NRL and AFL seasons and from Monday to Friday outside of football season.

Each station will have its own dedicated show, with sport content that is specific and relevant to the market in which it is broadcasting.

Nine Radio’s Managing Director, Tom Malone, says, “For the very first time, the famed Wide World of Sports brand will have a national footprint on radio. In keeping with our ‘live and local’ strategy, the program will have a distinct voice in each city, and in doing so providing local audiences with relevant content, while giving our advertisers a national platform.”

Nine’s Director of Sales, Total Audio, Ash Earnshaw, says, “The extension of the Wide World of Sports superbrand offers an exciting opportunity for marketers to reach this highly targeted and engaged demographic of listeners across the country. It will be strengthened by the legendary Wide World of Sports television properties and allows our team to sell TV and audio together.”

Mark Levy (pictured) will continue to host the program on 2GB while Peter Psaltis remains as host in Brisbane. Hosts for Melbourne and Perth will be announced soon.
