The KIIS Network’s Will & Woody asked themselves the question on everybody’s lips (literally) of why can’t you eat your serviette dripping with the left over goodness from your pie / kebab / pasta dish? Hmmm. Perhaps not everyone was asking this, but none the less they pursued the idea and came up with the concept of the Servi-Eat (patent pending).
After two weeks of workshopping the concept with listeners, and then testing it on some celebrity friends, last night they appeared ‘incognito’ on 10’s Shark Tank Australia to see whether their Servi-Eat was the million dollar baby they thought it was. Former AFL player and Brownlow medallist Adam Cooney tested the absorbency and Dessert Masters judge Melissa Leong critiqued the look, feel and, of course, the taste.
Melissa said on-air:
“I think that it has some nice structural density about it. It’s visually pleasing. It does everything it says on the packet, which is to look like a serviette that you can eat. If you are looking for a relatively neutral vehicle for flavours to be absorbed, I think that’s not too bad. The thing we know about sugar is that it enhances other flavours. I feel like it’s quite complementary. I mean I didn’t stop…”
Adam Cooney said:
“It’s incredible what you guys have come up with, it’s amazing. It’s truly a billion-dollar industry and I’d like to invest…I want 10% of the company.”
The duo put a lot of effort into being taken seriously on the tank and not just being those two guys on the radio with a silly gimmick….
How did it go? Well let’s just say the words ‘good faces for radio’ came up:
Not sure we’ll be servi-eating any time real soon!
