World Record broken for the most people singing on a live radio broadcast

The world record for most people singing live on a radio broadcast was previous set on 8th July 2011 by 3,885 people from The Biggest Band (UK) at Wembley Arena, London, and broadcast live to air by Resonance FM UK.

Last Thursday 3rd July, this was broken by Hillsong’s Young and Free, when over 4,000 conference delegates sang live from Olympic Park Homebush, and were broadcast live across Sydney on Hope 103.2.

The Young and Free Conference is designed specifically for young people and is part of the Hillsong Conference, which attracts around 40,000 delegates each year.

The large gathering sang Young and Free’s hit song ‘Alive’ a’capella, and Hope 103.2’s Breakfast Team Aaron and Dan, decked out in their Hope 103.2 Purple Onesies, were there to start the ball rolling and cross live on-air.  The entire performance was captured on video.

Half of Hope’s breakfast duo, Dan Widdowson said, “it was an amazing experience to see so many young people singing their hearts out, and awesome to hear that broadcast live on the air!”
