This year ANZAC Day will be different…

 but Radio will remember them.

In less than 3 weeks, Australians will be commemorating ANZAC Day like never before.
As a result of COVID-19, all ANZAC Day events have been cancelled: there will be no marches, no commemorations, no dawn services, no wreath laying, and no crowds lining the streets
Media Heads will be producing a compelling series of Radio vignettes for broadcast in the lead-up to, and on, ANZAC Day 2020:

  • WE WILL REMEMBER THEM – 15 x 90-second radio segments presented by author, historian and TV presenter Mat McLachlan (below) – featuring content/actualities from Media Heads’ vast interview archive.

With none of the usual public events taking place, radio has never had a more important role to play in ensuring that the nation has an opportunity to honour the more than 102,000 Australians who have lost their lives for our country.
And 2020 is no ordinary year in the commemoration calendar. This year marks the 75th Anniversary of the End of the Second World War. It was the conclusion of 30 years of worldwide upheaval: 2 world wars plus the Great Depression and the Influenza Pandemic. Tens of millions of lives lost across the globe. Rationing of essential household items. Restrictions relating to travel. In fact, there are some eerie similarities to life as we know it right now.

The series revolves around personal stories from veterans of WWII and those who kept the home fires burning. Sadly, there are very few veterans still alive today from the more than 1 million men and women who enlisted. Yet their stories live on and they will make your audience laugh, make them cry, make them feel proud, and provide them with a sense of hope.
It’s the sort of content that can help put our current situation into stark perspective.
The series is available free-of-charge – it comes with no sponsorship, no commercial content or product mentions.
The series will be available this week, before the Easter break.
