The are nineteen Australian nominations in the short list for the 2024 New York Festivals Radio Awards.

Leading the way is AFTRS‘ Discipline Lead, Directing Pearl Tan who has been nominated four times for her fictional podcast Diversity Work which made up part of her PhD studies. We spoke with Tan at the end of last year about the challenges of creating the podcast with nine other people in just two days!

Also with two nominations is Marc Fennell, the multi talented television, radio and now podcast presenter for the Audible original House of Skulls. Fennell spoke with Bray Boland and Jen Seyderhelm about how the idea for the podcast literally almost fell in his lap. The audio can be found here.

LiSTNR / SCA has three nominations. The docu-series Secrets We Keep: Shame, Lies & Family is nominated in Narrative or Documentary Podcast and Documentary: Social Issues and the team behind the audio drama Gripped: You Don’t Know Me has been nominated in the Mystery Podcast category. Journalist Amelia Oberhardt (pictured) hosts the very personal Secrets We Keep and also spoke with Jen and Bray last year about why they chose a format that varies from traditional podcast storytelling.
