Andy Lee has confirmed he will marry partner Bec Harding this year in their first two LiSTNR podcast episodes after their ‘Government mandated break’. Hamish & Andy also talked bee-farms, bitcoin, health star ratings and said farewell to web geezer Jeremy Carne, the sole keeper of their MySpace password.
Calling it “the royal wedding”, co-host Hamish Blake asked Andy whether he could officially tell listeners of “The People’s Show” that the couple were getting hitched after receiving an invitation over the break. Andy said yes, that long-time co-host and best mate Hamish will be a groomsmen alongside his brother Cam and regular pod contributor, Michael “Horgs” Horgan. Show button-pusher Jack Post was also confirmed to be on the guest list but got a slight fright when Hamish tried to up his duties:
Hamish: “By the time the Government mandated break rolls around again, there will be three married men in here… all things going well (laughs). That had an ominous jinxing to it (laughs). It’s big news because over the break invitations came out. Jack, did you receive one?”
Jack: “Well, I’ve got a ‘save the date’…”
Andy: “That was the invitation.”
Jack: “That’s the invitation – I thought so. The date is saved; we’re expecting to go.”
Andy: “Jack did say to me… we caught up and he said, ‘Did you only invite me because I pointed to you aggressively on the podcast and say you better invite me!’, and I said, ‘No!’”
Jack: “I’ll never know for sure.”
Hamish: “Well, I know for a fact it’s a tight wedding list.”
Andy: “We have got 80 [guests], total.”
Jack: “If there’s 80 people going and I wasn’t apart of that, I’d be surprised. Top 50, I would expect… (laughs) Top 40 I wouldn’t throw the toys out of the cot, but Top 50 you’d notice a slump in my behaviour on the show (laughs).”
Hamish: “Have you let Jack know about his groomsmen duties?”
Andy: “… I’m not required to tell him.”
Jack: “[To Hamish] If you’re a groomsmen, I don’t mind about that…”
Hamish: “(laughing) Well, of course I am!”
Jack: “I’m not surprised! I’m not shocked that you are.”
Hamish: “(laughing) You can’t expect to be a groomsmen!”
Andy: “I can say that Ham was very locked in. My brother [Cam] is also in there. Three groomsmen – Horgs [Michael Horgan, long-time contributor to the show], Ham, and Cam [are groomsmen]. All very tall… I’m going to have to wear a platform shoe.”
Hamish: “Well, I’ve got a lot of ideas for the wedding…”
Andy and Bec first announced their engagement in May 2024 on the Hamish & Andy podcast, with Bec regularly appearing on the show.
The first episode had a sad farewell to web geezer Jeremy Carne who has been with the duo for 18 years from their early long shorts days (see above).
