Jack Laurence, creator of the award-winning true crime podcasts One Minute Remaining, Wanted, and Crime at Bedtime, today launches his latest series – What I Survived, sharing first-hand accounts of people who lived through life-threatening ordeals and emerged to tell their stories.
Unlike traditional survival narratives, What I Survived takes listeners beyond the dramatic moment of crisis to explore the complete arc of survival: who these people were before disaster struck, the split-second decisions made under unimaginable pressure, and the often-overlooked aftermath – the physical recovery, psychological trauma and the long process of rebuilding a life forever altered.
“These are stories of ordinary people thrust into extraordinary circumstances,” says Laurence. “Much like with my show One Minute Remaining and Wanted, I’m not just interested in the sensational moment, I want to understand the human being at the centre of it all, and what it truly takes to survive and move forward.”
Since leaving mainstream media almost four years ago, Laurence has established himself as a leading voice in thoughtful, well-researched true storytelling that prioritises accuracy, sensitivity and the human experience in the podcasting world.
One Minute Remaining shot to the top of the Australian podcast charts within three months of its release in 2022 and has since amassed more than eight million total downloads.
Independent podcast company Acast will host, distribute and monetise What I Survived across all platforms.
