When the NRL season for 2025 kicking off this weekend, in Las Vegas, ARN have taken a run onto the field with a new podcast hosted by KIIS 97.3‘s Kip Wightman and Corey Oates called On the Punt. Corey is an ex-Brisbane Broncos player.
A key factor in having Corey join Kip and Robyn Bailey on breakfast is his willingness to have a go at anything, affection from Brisbane NRL fans and knowledge of the sport. It makes sense for ARN to have some further skin in the game.
In Vegas were teams from SEN, Nine and 2GB, including Ray Hadley, but with Mark Levy and new recruit Mark Geyer back at headquarters, and SCA‘s Triple M.
ARN haven’t shown too much interest in either NRL or AFL, with Kyle Sandilands quite active in his dislike of the latter. KIIS 1065 did come onboard late in season 2024 to partner with eventual premiers the Penrith Panthers but now with The Kyle and Jackie O show team member Cooper Johns aligning his podcast with the Nova Network I’m not sure he’s going to be gifted the NRL involvement and coverage that he had before.
On the Punt then is worth a little punt from the network. Especially if the Broncos fare better than they did in 2024.
