Monash University and SBS win Gold at the inaugural Signal Awards

Monash University’s podcast series What Happens Next? has been recognised in the inaugural global Signal Awards.

 

Hosted by Monash academic and commentator Dr Susan Carland What Happens Next? won a Gold Award for Documentary under the Branded Shows and Advertising category.

 

The award recognises branded shows that document the world through narrative, interviews, conversations and other documentary formats.

 

The podcast also won a Bronze Award for Best Conversation Starter for an individual episode titled The Psychedelic Resistance which explored the therapeutic potential of psychedelics in treating mental health conditions.

 

Monash University’s Chief Marketing Officer Fabian Marrone says, “It’s a remarkable achievement to have our podcast acknowledged for its documentary-style storytelling and thought-provoking topics in the inaugural Signal Awards.

The content is a credit to Monash academics, students, staff and alumni who appear as guests and other global guests spanning academia, media and many other fields.”

SBS also won Gold at The Signal Awards for Bad Taste, in the Food category for shows that discuss, examine or are involved in the world of food & drink.

The podcast is produced and hosted Jess Ho, with EP Michelle Macklem, Series Producer Bethany Atkinson-Quinton, Sound Designer Nicole Pingon and Editor Zoe Tennant.
