The Adelaide podcast that grown to service the national AFL Fantasy community

The Keeper League is an Adelaide-based AFL Fantasy podcast and digital media business, established in 2018 and celebrating its 300th episode this week.

The podcast was greated out of a gap in a niche market, specifically for Keeper League coaches, but instead of focusing on the premium players discussed elsewhere, The Keeper League concentrates on draftees, breakout players, role changes and future stars who help win Keeper Leagues.

Hosted by Ryan ‘Heff’ Gerlach the podcast has 2000 weekly listeners with 1500 paid website members.

Heff said:

“We were listening to AFL Fantasy podcasts and realised there was this whole community playing Keeper Leagues, but no one was really talking to them. We started making the podcast we wanted to hear, and eight years later it has grown into Australia’s largest Keeper League community.”

Since its inception the Keeper Fantasy platform has created the FootyHeads and FootyNumbers games as well as interview with AFL players and articles for AFL.com.au.

What started as a hobby between two mates has grown into a sustainable independent media business with a national membership community, digital product business and podcast production studio, all run from Adelaide.
