Mix 106.3 top, gains for ABC stations – GfK Survey 3 Canberra

Canberra again is a market unto itself in GfK Survey 3. Mix 106.3 was mostly steady as the top station in the ACT, but with a halving of their 18-24 audience. Fellow amplifyCBR station Hit 104.7 was also a steady second overall, but fourth in the breakfast race behind Mix‘s Kristen and Nige (main image), ABC Canberra‘s Ross Solly and Sally Sara on Radio National.

It was a good survey overall for ABC stations, particularly the local and Radio National. Ross Solly was up to a 16% audience share and Radio National (+0.9) the most overall. Hit held the 10-24s, Mix all the rest except 65+ who chose Radio National.

This has been an exceptional year (except we won’t mention the finals) for the local NRL team The Canberra Raiders. This survey hasn’t shown any real signs of increased listening on weekends as a result. The ABC and Mix who would cover the game were down not up with Hit, ABC News Radio and particularly triple j picking up non sports fans.

2CC, the talk station owned by the Capital Radio Network who would also have had the 2GB Continuous Call Team on weekends broadcasting NRL, saw big losses in breakfast, evenings and weekends, holding just a 2.3% audience share. Classic hits sister station 2CA were also down to 4.3%.
